Ohio estate tax obligations...
According to Ohio Code section 5731.09, my relative's estate will owe estate taxes on annuities. It is my understanding that the estate owes these taxes, not me...the beneficiary.
The question is: if said relative has no money or property to pay these taxes, then - as the executor - does the tax liability fall back on me? Thank you for any feedback. dflor is offline Reply With Quote |

Yes, the Ohio Estate Tax was repealed for estates of individuals dying on or after January 1, 2013. Please refer to House Bill 153, 129th General Assembly, for more information.
However, the Ohio estate tax is still in effect for decedents with a date of death prior to January 1, 2013, that have a gross estate greater than $338,333.00. ___________________________ business formation attorney |
